Update from our BAC
We held our third Business Advisory Committee meeting with our 2017-18 Project SEARCH interns in February.
We began the meeting with our BAC members catching up with Aidan, a graduate from last year. Aidan returned to talk about his experiences during and since his time with Project SEARCH. Aidan worked as a Ward Hospitality Assistant, then in M&S, and finally in the catering team at the University of Bradford. Following this, Aidan was successful at an interview for a job with M&S. In January he even began working in a second job at a pub in Cottingley as a Kitchen Porter.
Aidan is really enjoying both of his jobs. Recently a mystery shopper visited M&S, and was looked after by Aidan. He scored 100% and won a prize for his customer service skills. The BAC enjoyed hearing Aidan speak with such confidence about his enjoyment of life in employment.
Following this, our current interns met with the BAC members. They brought with them copies of their CVs, which they have been working hard on putting together. They each received detailed feedback on their CV about what was working well, and where it could be developed.
Interns have gone on to use their updated CVs to begin applying for paid employment.
The group is now working learning all about job interviews, and beginning to put their knowledge into practice in some role plays, ready for mock interviews at our next BAC next month. Good luck interns!
