Connor

Connor spent his first rotation in the Web Development team, working on a project around keeping the intranet up to date. In his second rotation, Connor worked with the finance department at Bradford Teaching Hospitals, working on a variety of roles to ensure that data was kept up to date and accurate. Connor's final rotation was with the Paediatric Secretaries team at St. Luke's Hospital.

Sam

The HR team had Sam working as an Administrative Assistant for his first rotation, doing data entry, filing and support with payroll. Sam began his second rotation working jointly with ENT and the speech therapists at the Yorkshire Cochlear Implant Service, again in administration. Sam, however had to leave his second rotation before completion as he has begun paid employment at the hospital as an administrator, following a successful interview.

Aidan

Aidan spent his first rotation working in Service Desk in the IT team. He set up new IT users on the system, and resets passwords. Aidan was mentored by one of our previous graduates, Ben. Aidan's second rotation was based over at St Luke's Hospital working with the paediatric secretaries team in administration. For his final rotation, Aidan was again based at St. Luke's working in medical records.

Jordan

Working in Receipt and Distribution for his first rotation, Jordan checked the contents of parcels that are delivered to the BRI, re packed them and then delivered them to various locations around the hospital. Jordan moved into non-clinical services for his second rotation, working as a cleaner on the Gastro Unit. Continuing with cleaning in his final rotation, Jordan moved onto Ward 27 where he developed his skills further. Jordan left the programme in early July to begin paid employment as a cleaner at a high school.

John is worked as an administrator in the Estates team for his first rotation, he was responsible for making ID badges for staff, and ensuring they have the correct access to different departments in the BRI. John's second rotation was in Pharmacy Stores, where medicines are stored. John had to put items away in the correct locations, and pick order lists for wards around the hospital. For his third rotation, John worked in the maternity administration team at the Women and Children's Unit at the BRI.

Joe

Joe is keen to begin a career in catering, and began his Project SEARCH year by working in Ward Hospitality on one of the wards at the BRI, this involved serving food and drinks to patients and maintaining a clean kitchen environment. Joe is spending his second and third rotations working in the Lifestyle restaurant at the BRI, working as a kitchen assistant.

Sophie

Sophie is spent her first rotation in the catering department as a Ward Hospitality Assistant, this involved serving hot drinks and lunches to patients on one of the wards. She really enjoyed working on a ward so moved over to the Neonatal unit for her second rotation, where she worked as a housekeeper. Here she was responsible for cleaning equipment, such as incubators, as well as keeping on top of laundry and stocking up equipment such as syringes. Sophie worked (briefly!) as a housekeeper in the main hospital for her final rotation on Ward 14, where she supported other staff on the ward to ensure patients recieved an excellent experience. Sophie did not stay long in this role, because she was offered paid employment with a local school to work in the catering team.

Kieron

Kieron was undertaking a horticulture course at Southfield School before beginning on Project SEARCH. His first rotation was with the Gardening team in the Estates department, where he worked with the team on a variety of jobs including mowing, leaf blowing and hedge trimming. Kieron's second rotation was based in Receipt and Distribution where parcels are delivered, unpacked, and distributed around the hospital. Kieron learned the layout of the hospital, and became familiar with using a large electronic trolley to transport parcels. Towards the end of his second rotation, Kieron was offered an apprenticeship, following an interview, with a local landscape gardening company.

Umar

Umar is the first of our 2016-17 interns to secure paid employment. He is now working in an administrative role, within the HR team at the University of Bradford. His rotations during his time on Project SEARCH were also admin based, including inputting information from complaint letters onto a database, and working in the post-graduate education team. Umar feels his IT and bilingual skills (English and Urdu) are his biggest strengths.

Thomas is an extremely hard worker, and does really well with practical tasks. His first rotation was in the Estates team, doing painting and decorating, he then moved onto linen services which is a portering role. He spent his final rotation in a placement with the portering team at the University of Bradford. Thomas found paid employment in a catering manufacturing role after graduation from the programme.

Saeed's first rotation was within two admin offices in the Pharmacy team at the BRI, he was responsible for faxing, photocopying, filing and laminating. He moved to St Luke's hospital to the Paediatric Secretaries team in an admin role, and his final rotation was on reception at Shipley Resource Centre. Saeed is working hard to achieve his goal of getting a position within the admin sector.

Neil's first rotation was in the Grounds Maintenance team at BTHFT. He then moved to work within Receipt and Distribution in a combined administrative and portering role. Neil's final rotation is in the Gardening team at the University of Bradford. Neil was very keen to find work in this area, and expressed his enthusiasm by sharing his newly learnt knowledge of plants each day with the Project SEARCH team. After graduating, Neil was offered an opportunity to do an apprenticeship in grounds work.

Mark's first rotation was working in the Surgery and Anesthesia Team as an administrative assistant. He learnt how to use the iPM online system, accessing relevant patient records and entering relevant data. His second rotation with with the Patient Experience Team, logging data onto a different database, and his final rotation was in a receptionist role at BTHFT. When Mark graduated he was offered, and accepted, an apprenticeship with Bradford Teaching Hospitals.

Damien's first rotation on Project SEARCH was as a circulation cleaner in the Women and Children's Unit. He moved from there into a Housekeeping role within the main hospital, and is now completing his final rotation as a housekeeper in the neonatal unit. He is responsible for cleaning to very high standards, and ensuring stock levels are kept up in various places around the hospital. Damien is extremely thorough in his work, and has pursued a career working in cleaning/housekeeping at a care home in Bradford.

Corbin's first rotation was in the Portering department where he was responsible for transferring patients between wards and other departments, as well as delivering equipment and samples. His second rotation was based in Pharmacy stores, where the hospitals drugs are delivered to and stored, and packaged up for wards as required. His final role on Project SEARCH was back in the pharmacy team, as an Administrative Assistant. Corbin found employment as a receptionist after graduating from Project SEARCH.

Aidan’s first rotation was on Ward 3 as a Ward Hospitality Assistant, where he was responsible for serving drinks to patients, assisting with preparation and service of lunch, to clean up, and to keep the kitchen clean and tidy. Aidan has passed his Level 2 food hygiene certificate with flying colours in order to begin this role. Aidan then moved into a role in the new M&S site here at BTHFT for his second rotation, before beginning his final rotation within the catering team at the University of Bradford. Aidan found paid employment on graduating at M&S at the BRI, and also in a local pub as a kitchen assistant.

Olivia completed two placements as a speech and language therapist’s assistant in the listening for life centre and in paediatric secretaries. She did not take on a third placement as she was successful in being offered an apprenticeship at BTHFT. As her apprenticeship came to an end, Olivia found a new job as a teaching assistant at Southfield School.
