Project SEARCH Graduates
Umar is the first of our 2016-17 interns to secure paid employment. He is now working in an administrative role, within the HR team at the University of Bradford. His rotations during his time on Project SEARCH were also admin based, including inputting information from complaint letters onto a database, and working in the post-graduate education team. Umar feels his IT and bilingual skills (English and Urdu) are his biggest strengths.
Thomas is an extremely hard worker, and does really well with practical tasks. His first rotation was in the Estates team, doing painting and decorating, he then moved onto linen services which is a portering role. Now he is working in his final rotation in a placement with the portering team at the University of Bradford. Thomas is looking for a paid job in a practical role.
Saeed's first rotation was within two admin offices in the Pharmacy team at the BRI, he was responsible for faxing, photocopying, filing and laminating. He moved to St Luke's hospital to the Paediatric Secretaries team in an admin role, and his final rotation is on reception at Shipley Resource Centre. Saeed is working hard to achieve his goal of getting a position within the admin sector.
Neil's first rotation was in the Grounds Maintenance team at BTHFT. He then moved to work within Receipt and Distribution in a combined administrative and portering role. Neil's final rotation is in the Gardening team at the University of Bradford. Neil is very keen to find work in this area, and expresses his enthusiasm by sharing his newly learnt knowledge of plants each day with the Project SEARCH team.
Mark's first rotation was working in the Surgery and Anesthesia Team as an administrative assistant. He learnt how to use the iPM online system, accessing relevant patient records and entering relevant data. His second rotation with with the Patient Experience Team, logging data onto a different database, and his final rotation is in a receptionist role at BTHFT.
Damien's first rotation on Project SEARCH was as a circulation cleaner in the Women and Children's Unit. He moved from there into a Housekeeping role within the main hospital, and is now completing his final rotation as a housekeeper in the neonatal unit. He is responsible for cleaning to very high standards, and ensuring stock levels are kept up in various places around the hospital. Damien is extremely thorough in his work, and is keen to pursue a career working in either housekeeping or cleaning.
Corbin's first rotation was in the Portering department where he was responsible for transferring patients between wards and other departments, as well as delivering equipment and samples. His second rotation was based in Pharmacy stores, where the hospitals drugs are delivered to and stored, and packaged up for wards as required. His final role on Project SEARCH is back in the pharmacy team, this time as an Administrative Assistant.
Aidan’s first rotation was on Ward 3 as a Ward Hospitality Assistant, where he was responsible for serving drinks to patients, assisting with preparation and service of lunch, to clean up, and to keep the kitchen clean and tidy. Aidan has passed his Level 2 food hygiene certificate with flying colours in order to begin this role. Aidan then moved into a role in the new M&S site here at BTHFT for his second rotation, before beginning his final rotation within the catering team at the University of Bradford. Aidan is looking to begin a career in retail or catering.
Liam completed placements as a pharmacy stores assistant and in engineering stores. He has completed his final placement in Street lighting at Bradford City Council. He has long held an ambition to work in street lighting.
Olivia completed two placements as a speech and language therapist’s assistant in the listening for life centre and in paediatric secretaries. She did not take on a third placement as she was successful in being offered an apprenticeship at BTHFT.
Muhammed completed his first two placements in receipt and distribution and ICT. His final placement was in HR at the University of Bradford. Muhammed is now in full time employment as an administrative assistant.
Jamie’s rotations at Project SEARCH were in gardening and catering in the restaurant and kitchen at Bradford Royal Infirmary. He is now in paid employment, working as a kitchen assistant, in a pub in Bradford.
Ahmad's third placement was a pharmacy stores assistant. His previous placements were in receipt and distribution stores and as a medical records porter. Since graduating from Project SEARCH, Ahmad found paid employment as a porter at BTHFT.
Humaira's third placement as a ward assistant in Ear, Nose and Throat. She completed her first two placements as a cleaning services assistant and a housekeeper in A&E.
Bilal completed his first two placements in catering. His final placement was working in a café at the University of Bradford.
Stephen completed two placements in painting & decorating and cleaning services. He did not undertake his final placement as he found paid employment as a cleaner at the University of Bradford.
Jedd has completed two placements in the health library and in non clinical support admin. His final placement was in the University of Bradford Library.
Charlotte completed three placements at Project SEARCH including one at St Lukes Hospital. She has been employed by Southfield School in the admin team since 2015.
Sophie completed three placements in catering including one placement at the Midland Hotel Bradford. She has been in employment at the Midland Hotel since 2015.
Subla completed three placements in admin. She in non clinical support, paediatric secretaries and in HR at the University of Bradford. She has been employed at the University in HR since 2015.
Jason completed his placements in estates on Project SEARCH. He found temporary employment at the hospital in gardening but moved to work as a porter at the University of Bradford.
Ben completed 3 placements in ICT. He has been employed by the hospital since 2015 and currently works as a data improvement officer.
Daniel completed his placements in linen services and cleaning service on Project SEARCH. He has been employed in cleaning services at the hospital since 2015.
Kieran Wood worked in three different catering roles at Project SEARCH. He has been in employment as a kitchen assistant since 2015.
Donata completed placement in cleaning services and ward hospitality. She was our first intern to find paid employment and has been working for Tiffin’s Sandwiches since 2014.
Unheralded: completed placements in Mail Room, medical records and receipt and distribution.
Tristan: Completed placements in portering, receipt and distribution and linen services. Went on to further education.
Matthew completed placements as a housekeeper in A&E, theaters and on wards. He is currently employed as a care takers assistant in a primary school.
Richard Duckworth completed placements in gardening, linen services and as an education technician assistant. Richard found employment in a restaurant and has worked there since 2014.
Aneesa completed her placements in cleaning services in circulation and wards. She was our first intern to find employment in the hospital worked there since 2014.
Rohail worked in Linen services, receipt and distribution and catering stores. He has been in employment as a cleaner since 2014.
